Abstract:
Interesting examples of hyperbolic groups can appear as fundamental groups of piecewise Euclidean cube complexes that satisfy certain combinatorial conditions. I shall try to illustrate one such example, and how Combinatorial Morse Theory can be used to construct non-hyperbolic finitely presented subgroups of such hyperbolic groups.
