Homework Study Groups

These meet Wednesday 6:00-10:30pm in 406 Malott, and Thursday 6:00-10:30pm (or perhaps only 10:00) in Balch Hall 3330. These are optional sessions where students can work on homework in groups. Course assistants will be on hand to assist.

Announcements

As usual on Tuesdays there is a Moodle quiz (on section 8.4, partial fractions) opening at noontime Oct. 8 and closing at 8am Friday Oct. 11. There will be no Moodle quiz due over the Fall Break period. After Fall Break, there will be Moodle Quiz 10 closing on Friday Oct. 18 at 8am.
Prelim 1 solutions, grading distributions, some approximate letter interpretations and regrade procedures are now on Moodle in the week 7 agenda section. (It's not actually week 7 yet.) All grading appeals must be filed by Thursday Oct. 17.
Homework assignment 6 is now on the homework web page. There is a change on this assignment from the initial plan handed out on day 1 of the course. (Several 8.4 problems have been removed from the original version of this assignment - they will likely be added to assignment 7.)
Solutions to homeworks 4 and 5 are now at the Math 1120 Moodle Site.

Math 1012 Prelim 1 Review Schedule.
A 1 page version named prelim1_f09_short.pdf of the Fall 2009 prelim 1 has been added to the Math Department Moodle Site. As is mentioned on this new 1 page version, this exam may not be a very good indicator of how your exam will look.
Confirmed homework assignments up to and including assignment 5 due just before prelim 1 (not being collected but on the prelim!) are now on the homework web page.
Please look at the comments about numbers 48 and 34 on homework solutions 1 even if you are confident you already know how to do those problems.
The first Moodle quiz will open Friday 9/6 at noontime and close Tuesday 9/10 at 8am. Please take it once. Coompletion matters to your grade but correctness does not. Starting 9/11 you'll be able to review the right and wrong answers to the review copy of that quiz as much as you like, but this will not affect whether you get credit for completing the quiz on time. (As with homework there will be no extensions of due date on Moodle quiz completion, but you can offer explanations to your instructor if something like sickness interferes.)
