1. Grades are based on prelim 1 at 25%, prelim 2 at 30%, final exam 35%,
and section grade 10%. Your TA will tell you how your section
grade is figured. This may vary from one TA to the next, but
there will be quizzes based on the homework as a major component.
The mean letter grade in the course is typically B.
You will have the opportunity to do corrections on two prelim
problems after you get your graded papers back, for extra credit,
details tba.
2. If you have a conflict with another prelim or get extended time on
prelims and final exam, arrangements have to be made ahead of time by
emailing Dr.Terrell when the relevant information appears on the
web page. This will occur a few days before each test.
In case of conflicts, a test can usually be taken earlier the same
day, but never later than the regular time.
3. There are no makeups as such. If you are too sick or have other last
minute trouble which prevents your taking a Prelim, you must tell Dr.Terrell
before the test. You will be excused from the prelim and we will weight
your final exam score more, in proportion, to make up the difference when
computing your course grade.
4. If you are too sick or otherwise can't take the Final Exam, AND have a
passing grade in two Prelims and your section grade, then you may receive INC,
and take a Final Exam during the first week of the next semester.
