Abstract:
We show that the property of satisfying a law (i.e. belonging to group
variety) is not preserved under quasi-isometry. The proof is heavily based
on the study of the so-called traveling salesman property in groups which
is new and interesting in itself. The same methods are useful in some other
situations.
