Basics
  • Syllabus: Read this! (some info may be outdated, important dates are up to date on this page).curtis
  • Textbook: C. W. Curtis, "Linear Algebra: An Introductory Approach", Springer Undergraduate Texts in Math. (You can browse some pages at books.google.com)
  • Other books: We expect everyone to consult other references. There are many books out there on linear algebra, and many of them can be found in the library. You should try reading from other books; other points of view may give you better insight. The following are strongly suggested and can be found on reserve in the libray:

* K. Hoffman, R. Kunze: Linear Algebra. Second Edition. Prentice Hall. (Will use some of the material in this book)
* S. Lang: Linear Algebra. Springer, Undergraduate Texts in Mathematics.
* D. Dummit, R. Foote: Abstract Algebra. Third Edition, Wiley.
  • Prof. Reyer Sjamaar wrote some notes on linear algebra. We encourage you to read them!
  • Adobe Reader: Many documents will be available in pdf format. You will need Adobe Reader in your computer to read the documents. You can find it here (for free).
