Sheep Shaver an open source emulator of a classic PPC Macintosh compatible with Mac OS X on both PPC and Intel Macs. This is of particular interest to be able to run several legacy Mac applications developed in the department. Notably FractalASM and SaddleDrop, developed under the aegis of John Hubbard.

FractalAsm and SaddleDrop on PPC and Intel Macs

    Unzips to an eponymous disk image.
  • The disk image is designed to be a standalone container for running FractalAsm and SaddleDrop
  • Mount the disk image


  • Double-click which will prompt you to install a hidden configuration file .sheepshaver_prefs in your home directory.
  • Double-click to run your shiny new Mac!
