# Tutor Expertise

Tutors in the Math Support Center have varying areas of expertise. Here is a matrix of who can do what:

## Tutoring

### Tutors:

Tutors are color-coded by areas of expertise on the schedule. The colors correspond to the most advanced course level the tutor is likely to be able to help with. Please understand that tutors will help you to think about problems but will not simply do the problem for you. Some problems prove challenging, even for our best tutors. Some use familiar mathematics in unfamiliar ways or are not to be solved using the techniques most familiar to your tutor and require rethinking the problem considerably as a result. The point in such circumstances, as ever, is that your tutor will help you to think about the problem and to work toward a solution.

While tutors in the Math Support Center have varying areas of expertise, we have found that:
any tutor may be helpful in any subject
• directly knows the material.
• can get you started and refer you to another tutor who may be more facile with the kind of help you need.
