Hidden field equations

The Hidden Field Equations (HFE) cryptosystem is a public-key cryptosystem that uses the difficulty of solving multivariate polynomial systems over a finite field to secure information. In this talk we will review the basics of cryptography, including a brief look at Diffie-Hellman key exchange and RSA, before describing a simple version of HFE. The focus throughout will be on the basic mathematical problems that underlie each cryptosystem.

Refreshments will be served in the lounge at 4:00 PM.
