My work thus far has focused on bounding the mixing times of Markov chains. An example of a mixing time can be posed in terms of card shuffling: how many shuffles does it take to randomize the order of the cards in a deck? This depends on the type of shuffle, and many shuffles can be modeled as Markov chains. I am also interested in the relationship between Markov chains and random walks on graphs and groups.
