Undergraduate Course Assistant Positions
Available for Fall 2008
Title: Undergraduate Course Assistant
Pay: $8.10+ per hour (FWS not required)
Hours: 5–10 hours per week
Responsibilities
Course assistants in Calculus I (MATH
1110) and Calculus II (MATH
1120)
will be expected to:
- Facilitate and conduct one 90-minute workshop problem
session in calculus per week.
- Attend bi-weekly meetings with other
course assistants and instructional staff.
- Periodically attend course
section meetings.
- Grade weekly homework assignments (approx. 3 hours per week).
- Conduct one-on-one peer-tutoring sessions.
- Attend a mandatory 2-hour training session to be held April
16, 17, 23, or 24.
Hiring Procedures
Complete the Undergraduate Grader/Course
Assistant Application Form and submit to Catherine Stevens (mathgrader@cornell.edu,
316 Malott Hall) by April 1, 2008.
Assignments are made one semester at a time. We cannot guarantee continuous
employment, because there are fewer openings in the spring than in the
fall.
If you receive an offer (by e-mail), respond as soon as
possible to accept (or decline). Jobs are in demand and fill
quickly.
Information for New Hires
- Pick up the textbook(s) for your course from Cathy in 316 Malott
Hall. All textbooks must be returned at the end of the semester.
- If you have never been a Cornell student employee, you must complete
a Form I-9 (employment
eligibility verification) before you can be payed.
- Report your time using COLTS by
noon on the last day of each pay period. (See the Non-exempt
Biweekly Payroll Calendar. You will be reminded of the deadline
each period via e-mail.)
- If your time is submitted late, your pay will be delayed.
- Paychecks are available on alternate Thursdays in 310 Malott Hall
unless you submit a Payroll
Direct Deposit Form.
