Faculty Positions Available
Starting July 1, 2008

The Mathematics Department is interested in receiving applications in all areas of mathematics. The fields currently represented in the Mathematics Department at Cornell are combinatorics and discrete geometry, commutative and computational algebra, complex analysis, dynamical systems, geometric group theory, geometric PDE, Lie groups and automorphic forms, logic, probability, mathematical biology, number theory, numerical analysis (PDE), statistics, symplectic geometry, topology, wavelets and harmonic analysis.

Deadline for applications:

  • November 1 for tenure-track/tenured applications;
  • December 1 for all others

Early applications will be regarded favorably. Applicants will be automatically considered for all eligible positions.

Tenure-Track/Tenured Positions

Applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant professor position, or higher rank, pending administrative approval. Applications in all areas of Mathematics will be considered with a priority given to probability. Teaching load will be three courses per year.

H. C. Wang (Term) Assistant Professorships

Applications are invited for two or more H. C. Wang assistant professorships for a non-renewable, 3-year term. We expect these candidates to have excellent teaching skills and excellent research potential. Candidates with teaching and research interests compatible with current faculty are sought. Successful candidates are expected to pursue independent research at Cornell and teach three courses per year.

Visiting Faculty Positions — Starting August 16, 2008

Applications are invited for possible visiting positions, academic year or one semester teaching positions (rank based on experience).  We expect these candidates to have excellent teaching skills. The teaching load varies from one to four courses per year, depending on the individual and the availability of courses. Candidates with teaching and research interests compatible with current faculty are sought.

Decisions will be made after other hiring is completed in February or March.
