Research Area: commutative algebra

My research is primarily focused on the homological nature of modules over commutative rings. Successive approximation of a module by free modules leads to the concept of a free resolution. Some of the questions that I am interested in are: When is such an approximation finite? How large are its pieces? Is there any additional structure on a resolution that will help answer the previous questions? I am also interested in the interactions of this theory with rational homotopy theory and hyperplane arrangements.
