MATH 650: Lie Groups (Fall
2007)
Instructor: Birgit Speh
Meeting Time & Room
Lie groups and Lie algebras have applications to many areas of mathematics,
for example to analysis, geometry, dynamical systems and combinatorics
as well as to physics. Some of these connections will be discussed in
the "Lie days" on the first weekend in September.
The course
will give an introduction to Lie groups, discuss their relationship with
Lie algebras and their representations with a particular emphasis on
the classical groups.
