MATH 649: Lie algebras (Spring 2005)

The first part of the course will be a quick introduction to Lie groups and Lie algebras through linear groups. In the second part we will discuss semisimple Lie algebras and their representations.

I will be lecturer at the beginning, but after that I will conduct the course as a "seminar" in which students will also lecture. The course should be accessible to all first-year students.
