Textbook: Martin Schechter: Principles of functional analysis, II ed.

We will cover all basic topics of functional analysis: Banach and Hilbert and more general topological spaces, bounded, compact and unbounded operators and their spectral theory, duality and distributions. Based on preferences of students we can pick up additional material such as semigroups. The textbook will be complemented by other materials (Rudin's book, prof. Gross notes, and Taylor's PDE book vol I.).
