Academic Support for Mathematics StudentsWorried about math? Whether you are studying for a prelim or brushing up on forgotten algebra, we can relieve your math anxiety. Dont wait until the end of the semester to seek help! Mathematics Support Center, 256 Malott HallContact: Maria Terrell, director; (607) 255-3905, mst1@cornell.edu The MSC operates on the premise that you will learn mathematical concepts best by doing problems and practicing regularly. Study capsules and tutoring assist in refreshing your memory, filling gaps in your math background, reinforcing class work, helping on difficult topics, or reviewing for exams. MSC services are available weekdays and Sundays throughout the semester. For review session and tutoring schedules, copies of the study capsules (described below), and more, visit the Math Support Center web site. Free TutoringExperienced tutors are available on a walk-in basis for free individual and small-group tutoring every day except Saturday. Hours are generally business hours weekdays and Sunday evenings in the Math Support Center with additional evening hours on north campus a couple nights each week. Review SessionsReview sessions are held at the start of the semester for students wanting to review some pre-calculus topics.

Learning Strategies Center Mathematics BranchContact: Patricia Alessi, 212 Malott Hall, (607) 255-8637, pa31@cornell.edu The Learning Strategies Center offers a variety of services to assist students in reaching their academic potential. Classes, tutorials, workshops, and individual consultations help students develop effective learning strategies. Academic Support CoursesMATH 1005, 1006, 1011, and 1012 meet weekly to supplement lecture material, answer questions, and provide tips for effectively learning the material in MATH 1105, 1106, 1110, and 1120. Students who enroll in a support course receive one transcript credit (depending on college) and tutoring services. Those who do not wish to enroll are invited to attend but cannot utilize the tutoring services. There are no exams or homework assignments. Students receive S/U grades based on attendance only. Free Tutoring at the LSC Statistics LabThe LSC offers free statistics tutoring on a walk-in basis during the academic year to students enrolled in AEM 2100, BTRY 3010, HADM 2201, ILRST 2100, MATH 1710, PAM 2100, PSYCH 3500, SOC 3010, and STSCI 2100. The lab is located in 417 CCC, staffed with tutors 4 evenings per week, and equipped with computers and course-related statistical software for each of the supported courses.
