Greetings! This is the homepage of Melanie Pivarski.
I just graduated with a PhD from the Cornell mathematics department.
I study analysis in metric measure spaces. My dissertation is on heat
kernel assymptotics on Euclidean polytopal complexes.
My advisor at Cornell was Laurent
Saloff-Coste.

Previously, I was an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University, where I earned a
bachelors degree in mathematics with a minor in computer science. I also
met my husband, Jim (McCann)
Pivarski there. He studied
experimental particle physics at Cornell and graduated with PhD this
past spring.
Starting in the fall of 2006 we will both be postdocs at Texas A&M.
Outreach
Throughout my time at Cornell, I've been involved in Expanding Your
Horizons, a day long series of workshops designed to help middle
school girls learn more about math and science though hands-on
activities. I've helped to design and lead workshops on many
different topics in math.
